Zion Williamson steals the show again.
The 2019 first pick was tremendous on Tuesday night,
an absolute career game for the rising star as he scored a career-high 31
points to lead the Pelicans to a 138-117 blow-out win against The Blazers in
New Orleans.
The Pelicans started the game without their All-Star
Brandon Ingram who has been previously ruled out of the game due to a sprained
ankle. No worries, Zion comes for the rescue in addition to Lonzo Ball and JJ
Redick who showed a lot of hustle and motivation in many plays. Therefore, The
Pelicans outscored the visitors during the third quarter 41-21 to take the home
victory.
The win improved New Orleans’ record to 23-31 and the
playoffs chances are getting more or less realistic as the Pelicans are only
4.5 games behind the eighth spot of the NBA Western Conference.
Due to a slight knee injury and also load management,
Zion missed almost half of the regular season. Every Pelicans’ fan was waiting
for this moment. In fact, since Zion Williamson made his NBA debut, he didn’t
disappoint and has already recorded SEVEN 20-point games in only NINE NBA appearances,
becoming the third player in NBA history with such numbers over the last 30
seasons, joining Shaquille O’Neal and Grant Hill. Zion was definitely worth the
wait.
We haven’t seen a better player on the court tonight.
He was grabbing rebounds, attacking with fluidity, making a huge impact on both
ends. In addition to his career-high, he posted 9 rebounds and five assists,
making him the best player of the game.
It’s a pity that the games Zion missed this season
will surely cost him the Rookie of The Year Award as Memphis’ Ja Morant is also
posting huge numbers and keeps stealing the show every single game. But let’s
not deny the fact that Williamson is the best player of this season’s draft.
Over the last 10 games, Damian Lillard has been the
ultimate reason for the 7-3 record, averaging an insane 41.5 points per game.
However, a huge matchup against the Grizzlies is coming for Portland tomorrow
night.
