Real Madrid
is currently Laliga’s leader with a one-point gap with their ultimate rival FC
Barcelona in spite of dropping two points against Celta Vigoin a 2-2 draw at
the Bernabeu on Sunday.
Santi Mina
spoiled the win for the hosts with a life-saving equalizer at the 85th
minute which happened after that Toni Kroos and Sergio Ramos had led the team
to a great comeback while being down within only seven minutes into the game.
The captain scored from the penalty spot after that a ‘finally healthy’ Hazard
had won a valuable foul inside the visitors’ box.
Celta are
now more or less relieved as they left the relegation zone after this draw. Vigo
might be facing technical issues nowadays, but every Celta Vigo fan should
still hold his hopes and rely on the lethal Iago Aspas. We wouldn’t mention him
without bringing up his classic skipper to Smolov which stunned Real. Fedor
Smolov opened the scoreboard in the seventh minute to become the first Russian
player to score a Laliga goal at the Santiago Bernabeu since Alexander Mostovoi
in 2003.
The score
should have literally been 2-0 at the break. But Celta’s main man Iago
surprisingly missed an easy header inside the box while Real Madrid’s defense
was absolutely ineffective.
On his
return, Hazard was the bright spot at the Santiago Bernabeu. He looked very
sharp during the whole game, creating chances, dribbling with quick feet and
working much better alongside Karim Benzema.
Madrid clearly
appeared to be struggling, but seven minutes at the second half were pretty
enough to get the team back on track as Marcelo was at the center of the play,
picking out to Kroos who does not disappoint with his brilliant finish.
At the 65th
minute of the game, Ramos coolly converts the penalty into a goal to give The
Los Blancos their first lead of the game.
This goal
could have secured a three-point lead for Real Madrid, but unfortunately Denis
Suarez starred with a perfect thread right into Mina’s foot, who obviously made
no mistake.
Barcelona
are getting back to the first place race with one point only behind The
Merengues. Barcelona had previously defeated Getafe in a 2-1 victory.
